3.3. Schedule of routine maintenance

The offered recommendations assume independent performing procedures of service of the car by its owner unlike the works which are carried out at car repair shop of representative office of the Mercedes-Benz company. Though this schedule is made on the basis of recommendations of manufacturer, intervals between the majority of procedures, at the discretion of the owner of the car, it is possible to reduce, for example, check and replacement of lubricants and liquids should be made with the intervals providing the maximum service life of the engine or drive. Besides, if the owner of the car is interested in supporting him in a condition of the maximum readiness for operation on a case of possible resale, many procedures can be performed more often. We only welcome a similar initiative.

Initial service and check of the new car has to be made at car repair shop of representative office of firm for the purpose of performance of conditions of the guarantee certificate. Such check is made free of charge.

Replacement of motive oil and the accompanying works (each 9000 km of a run or times a year)

Make replacement of motive oil and an oil filter, modify oil level, check levels of working liquids in tanks of a motive compartment.

List A: The procedure is performed in case the run from the moment of performance of the last service according to the list B makes less than 22 000 km.

List B: The procedure is performed in case the run from the moment of performance of the last service according to the list B makes more than 22 000 km.

Primary service is made according to the list B.

(C) Brake system

Check serviceability of functioning of the parking brake and reliability of keeping of the car by it on a bias.

Interior of the car

(And yes In) Check serviceability of functioning of the following devices:

(A) Remove wheels and check the residual thickness of frictional overlays of brake shoes.

(C) Estimate a condition of brake disks.

(A) Make replacement/rotation of wheels (all four wheels have to be one standard size).

(B) Check a condition of tires.

(A) Modify pressure of a rating of tires and measure the residual depth of a protector.

Car bottom

Check the elements located under the bottom for leaks.

Check a state and correctness of laying of hydraulic and fuel lines.

Check a condition of spherical support and saylent-blocks.

Estimate degree of wear of components of the steering drive (side plays).

Motive compartment

The order of opening of a cowl for the purpose of ensuring access in a motive compartment is described in the Section Access to podkapotny space of the Head the Operation manual

(C) Check the elements located in a motive compartment for existence of signs of leaks.

(C) Check a state and correctness of laying of hydraulic and fuel lines.

(And yes In) Make replacement of motive oil and an oil filter.

Check levels of all working liquids:

(C) Cooling systems;

(A) Brake system;

(A) Windscreen washers;

(C) Systems of hydrostrengthening of a wheel;

(C) Adjustments of rigidity of shock-absorbers;

(C) Check a condition of driving belts;

(C) Grease elements of the drive of a butterfly valve, check serviceability of functioning of the drive;

(C) Replace the dustproof filter (without coal element);

(And yes In) Check work of a latch of the lock of a cowl.

(C) Body

Check lamps of headlights (except xenon) for compliance to the required power.

Check correctness of adjustment of optical axes of headlights, in case of need make the corresponding adjustment.

Replace working elements of brushes of screen wipers (including cleaners of headlights).

Luggage compartment

(C) Check electrolyte level in the battery.

(A) Check pressure of a rating of the tire of a spare wheel.

Additional works

Each 2 years

Replace brake fluid. Check a condition of a paint and varnish covering, components of the chassis bearing and basic body elements.

Each 3 years

Replace cooling liquid. Clean and grease the directing trenches and rams of a cover of the top hatch.

Each 48 000 km (4 years)

Check a condition of elastic couplings of the driveshaft.

Each 96 000 km (4 years)

Replace the fuel filter, an element of the air filter of the engine. Replace spark plugs.

Each 72 000 km (2 years)

Replace the filter of purification of air of salon, the preliminary coal filter.

Each 120 000 km (4 years)

Replace the coal filter.

Be careful when working in a motive compartment, operation of the fan of the cooling system can happen within about 30 more seconds after switching off of the engine!

In electronic system of ignition, very high voltage is generated! Be attentive, observe all necessary precautionary measures at service of any components of system, including not only the main (the ignition module, the coil and VV of a wire), but also and accompanying, such as candle sockets, tachometer and the other connected diagnostic equipment. Special attentiveness should be observed at the working engine, during its start, at the included ignition (a key in situation 2) and at a provorachivaniye of a bent shaft manually. Persons with the implanted pacemaker of ignition should not be allowed to service of components of system!
